The top two ranked sides in Group D meet here, as South Africa and New Zealand get ready to square off in what should be one of the games of the tournament.
South Africa come into this one having survived a double super over classic against Afghanistan, and with both them and the Black Caps boasting 100% records in the tournament so far, this feels like a huge one.
While winning the game will of course be the priority for both sides, the added carrot of probably being able to top Group D ahead of the super 8’s could turn out to be significant, and this matchup generally provides fireworks.
Neither of these sides needs any introduction, and having played each other on plenty of occasions previously, this one at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Saturday, 14th February 2026, should be a classic.

South Africa vs. New Zealand – T20 World Cup Predictions
Best Bet
For South Africa, having to ride the emotional rollercoaster of their double super over win against Afghanistan could play its part here.
No side in the tournament has looked as comfortable as New Zealand, especially with the bat in hand, and they will be desperate to put a big score on the board and blow the Proteas out of the water.
As is reflected in the odds, this is very much a game that could go either way, but the Black Caps hold more value in this one, especially being played so early in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup.

Decent showings against Afghanistan and Canada have been a steady introduction to the T20 World Cup for Kagiso Rabada, but he tends to be the man for the big occasion for the Proteas.
With a feel for conditions and miles in the legs, he could take it to the Black Caps from the outset, and his death bowling always makes him a candidate to pick up late wickets.
Both New Zealand and South Africa will believe they can win here and the margins will be tight, but the Kiwis do look to have the momentum currently and much of that has been due to the weight of runs they have scored.
Openers Tim Seifert and Finn Allen set the tempo for the Black Caps and if they can get going early, they are very tough to stop.
Best Value Bet
Few bowlers in T20 cricket are as canny as Mitchell Santner and having been entrusted with the captaincy for the Kiwis, he looks to be relishing the responsibility.
While not a huge turner of the ball, Santner manipulates his pace and angle expertly and strangles the opposition batters into submission.
The surface in Ahmedabad has offered plenty for spin and seam options alike and Santner will be looking to race through his overs and pick up some South African scalps along the way.
